Ballston Lake, NY – September 8, 2006 – ADAKsystems a local provider of business solutions for manufacturers, today announced their flagship product, Resource Planner, will be rewritten on Microsoft’s .Net with Window’s Forms and 2005 Sequel Server database. A key aspect of the development process is the use of third party tools to expedite the process and make the finished product far more flexible for the end user. First, Infragistics was selected for their controls to support the graphical user interface (GUI). This allows for much faster development, but more importantly, it also allows for far greater user customization and flexibility to be built into the product. For similar reasons, Data Dynamic’s Active Reports was also selected and will be utilized for standard and user developed reports.
Chris Trow, president of ADAKsystems, explained,
“This investment will move our product to the leading
edge of manufacturing software. It provides users with
far more value and flexibility, both of which are
critical for US manufacturers to maintain a competitive
advantage in face of increasing costs in other areas.
More importantly, manufacturers will be able to more
accurately and very easily model the business processes
that are key to their operation, with little need to
rely on us or other consultants after they become
familiar with the new product. This is permitted with
user configurable screens and reports. There are a
couple of other advantages of using Microsoft’s .NET
platform, including: users can work from anywhere, any
time over the internet – saving a lot of unnecessary
travel time and expense; and, we can provide user
support and training over the internet also saving from
traditional approaches. Another benefit, from our
perspective, in partnering with Microsoft and using
excellent third party products, is that we expect to
have Resource Planner 7.0 ready for beta testing in
about six months; this is one-third the time such a
large project might traditionally be expected to take,
and maintenance will be a lot easier and faster.”
